Description | Develop an online crowdsourced image database for the chronology and sorting of musical instruments of historic value. This database will host a large collection of images, and should be searchable. Images submitted go to “admin” after which they are cleared, and published on the database. Should be able to run on any device (Windows, IOS, etc.). Creation of this database, titled “Heckeldex” will serve as an educational resource for other musicians and music history students funded by the University of South Carolina in collaboration with other School of Music students. Specifications | Applicants should have experience in web design, specifically CSS and CSS frameworks. Preferred experience with React & VueJS. Work timeline is flexible, but a working model is slated to be in the works within the coming weeks (April, 2021). Information Technology Co-Op at Schaeffler

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Co-Op student for our IT department at our Fort Mill, SC location. The Co-Op will be a student who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the IT field. The Co-Op would start in May 2021 and work until the start of the fall semester. Person will support Software & Web Development (SWD) by working alongside to assist development of graphical based applications and/or web applications to support the needs of our transition towards digital workflow. Additionally, SMD should be able to (2) design palatable user interfaces given a specific function and cause.

Covax Mobile Application

Looking for three students interested in helping create a COVID-19 vaccination verification and registration mobile application that’s intended to be used at academic institutions. The first phase of the project is to create a prototype to be used at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Due to the circumstances of this pandemic there’s need for urgency to push this through. We are pushing to have this prototype out before March. Then we will continue on with simple services until we work to push into market. This will be a great experience for students. Especially for those working on a capstone project. E4 Carolinas Seeks Interns for Energy Cluster Studies

We are seeking two students:
  • one with interest and skill in the area of data analytics and visualization; and
  • another with an interest and skill in the energy industry and policy and/or economics.

Undergraduate Research Experiences in Security and Privacy for Mobile Sensing and the Internet of Things

The TSYS School of Computer Science at Columbus State University is pleased to host an NSF CISE REU Site in Security and Privacy for Mobile Sensing and the Internet of Things. In our program, undergraduate students will participate in a 9-week research experience at Columbus State University (Columbus, GA) in researching problems and issues related to security, privacy, authentication, data integrity, and malware for Mobile Sensing and the Internet of Things. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 REU@CSU will be run virtually/online with mentors from CSU. For the year 2021, the program will run from May 26 / 2021 to July 28 / 2021. This site is supported by the NSF CISE REU program. Students will be awarded a stipend of $5,400 plus meals and housing allowance. The application process will close on March 12 /2021. Awardees will be notified from March to the beginning of April 2021. U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency is required. Women, minorities and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply. UofSC National Big Data Health Science Conference

The 2nd Annual Big Data Health Science Case Competition will be held virtually between January 29 – 31, 2021 before the University of South Carolina’s National Big Data Health Science Conference, scheduled for February 5 – 6, 2021. Last year’s winner was Duke University, so it is time for others to compete to dethrone them. The Big Data Case Competition is intended to provide enthusiastic teams of graduate and senior undergraduate students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to the analysis of big datasets in healthcare. This year’s challenge will focus on solving the inappropriate use of healthcare using a data analytics approach. Each participating team will analyze the case and datasets. During this period, the teams must identify the most prominent issues and develop a strategy to address key issues to help healthcare organizations achieve their goals of reducing inappropriate care utilization. Team members will work together to present their methods, analyses, and results at the Big Data Health Science Center Case Competition virtually. A panel of industry and academic experts will judge the presentations based on each team’s use of full analytics tools/processes, from framing the problem to data use, model building, innovation and communicating the solutions to decision-makers. Mobile App Development Positions Available

Looking for students to build a mobile app. The structure of the app will be very similar to a social media platform like Instagram, but it’s function will be different. The work will be completed remotely so students must be able to use zoom for meetings and have flexibility for meeting times. There will be multiple students (possibly from different universities) working on this.
