Data Analyst with Python

For my research projects, I need an undergraduate/graduate (preferred) student with the following skills:
  • Have solid knowledge of Python
  • Able to extract data (using the APIs)
  • Capable of merging large-scale data from different databases
  • Feel comfortable to work with big data
The projects will be fun and trendy topics. We documented codes from previous projects that can be used for the new projects. Students will be paid hourly. I might keep the student for my future research projects. The position needs to be filled as soon as possible. A computer science student worked with me on different projects for more than two years. He believes that this collaboration was an opportunity to work with big data in practice that empowers him in the job market. Fluor Sustainability Data Challenge

The Darla Moore School of Business Data Lab and the Center for Applied Business Analytics are now accepting applications for the Fluor Sustainability Data Challenge that will take place Friday, March 27, 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturday March 28, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm. The second prize winning team will receive a cash prize of $500 The event will challenge undergraduate and graduate students to develop an innovative strategy for manufacturers to reduce their C0² emissions. Fluor Corporation helps companies address sustainability challenges and issues, including the need to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, provide more efficient supply chain and procurement methods and to design and build more environmentally friendly, efficient, and less costly manufacturing facilities. The team solutions will be judged on creativity, usability and technicality. Data Challenge Goal: To develop recommendations for manufacturers on how they can reduce C0² emissions using data analytics to prove this approach is unique, cost-effective, technically sounds and implementable. Judges from Operations and Supply, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Fluor will evaluate each team’s recommendation and rate it on a judging rubric provided to each team at the kick-off event on March 3. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Carolina, Columbia is seeking applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor position beginning Fall 2020. McNair Junior Fellows: 34 Summer Research Jobs at UofSC

Earlier this month, CEC Undergraduate students received information that the McNAIR Junior Fellows program is now accepting applications for summer 2020, and students were highly encouraged to engage with faculty to formulate their research plans. The program, in its 6th year since its foundation, and in its 2nd year as an official CEC program, provides supports for undergraduate students up to 3k$ in summer funds and runs activities that helps the students further explore research (as well as research posters, state of the art and other research initiation programs). Charleston Digital Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton Hackathon

The Charleston Digital Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton is excited to be hosting our second annual public Hackathon on Saturday, March 7th. This year, teams will be tasked with producing open source solutions to help tackle the problems arising from Climate Change. REU at Florida Atlantic University

Florida Atlantic University NSF - Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Sensing and Smart Systems Florida Atlantic University's Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE) hosts an intensive summer research program in sensing and smart systems for talented undergraduate students across the country. Closely related to the Internet of Things, smart systems represent an emerging class of distributed systems that provide real-time awareness of conditions, trends, and patterns to support improved decision-making, and often, automation. The on-campus research will focus on I-SENSE’s three main program areas: Infrastructure Systems, Marine and Environment and Health and Behavior. YOUR FLORIDA EXPERIENCE This paid, nine-week program focuses on training, mentoring, research and an overall experience for students that prepares them for graduate studies or careers in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) disciplines. Undergraduate researchers are paid $600 along with a $130 meal allowance, per week. Participants will also receive $600 travel allowances.
