Developer Intern at Rhodes Law

We’re looking for a motivated Developer Intern to help build a secure, on-premise AI system that transforms meeting transcripts into structured legal documents using Gavel.com. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, legal tech, and data privacy.

What You’ll Do

  • Deploy and fine-tune open-source LLMs (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral) on local infrastructure. (You’ll want them to use existing models, not fine tune one special to you, and you definitely don’t want them to try to figure out hosting on local infrastructure).
  • Build a secure pipeline to extract structured data from meeting transcripts.
  • Integrate with Gavel.com’s API to generate legal/business documents.
  • Ensure all data handling complies with attorney-client privilege standards.
  • Collaborate with legal professionals to understand document requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Programming: Strong Python skills; experience with NLP libraries (spaCy, Hugging Face). Proficiency in Javascript or Python,
  • Familiarity with integrating with external APIs and LLMs
  • AI/ML: Familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering.
  • Security: Understanding of data encryption, secure APIs, and access control.
  • Bonus: Experience with Docker, local model deployment, or legal tech tools.

Why This Role Matters

Confidentiality is critical. You’ll be building a system that lawyers can trust with privileged information—no cloud, no leaks, just secure, local AI.

Balloon Pop Looking for Developers

Good afternoon, MCEC USC Students!

My name is Ali Jamil, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in technology innovation at USC. Last May, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. Today, I’m thrilled to share an innovative new app my team and I are developing: Balloon Pop by Nexus—a game we’re deeply passionate about!
Many young adults are left disappointed with online dating. Between endless swiping and shallow conversations, it can feel like a never-ending cycle that leaves people discouraged. Drawing inspiration from the viral phenomenon "Pop the Balloon: Or Find Love," we’ve seen firsthand how entertaining and chaotic social interactions can be. With Balloon Pop, we’ve taken the heart of this concept and transformed it into an engaging, purposeful platform—free of viral gimmicks—that fosters intentional dating and meaningful social discovery.

About Balloon Pop:
Balloon Pop is an interactive social game designed to phase out doom scrolling and passive swiping. Instead, it creates intentional, meaningful interactions through exciting gameplay and a vibrant, diverse culture.
Why Join Balloon Pop?
  • Be Part of Something Big: Collaborate on an innovative project that blends gaming and matchmaking into a unique and never done before experience!
  • Gain Valuable Experience: Work on a product with real-world impact, contributing to its development and success. You can absolutely add this to your portfolio!
  • Expand Your Network: Be part of a team that values creativity, inclusivity, and intentional connections.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking talented and driven individuals to join our development team in roles such as:
  • Backend Developers: Work on robust P2P server solutions to support live, interactive gameplay.
  • Game Developers (GDScript): Assist with refining gameplay mechanics, building immersive environments, and optimizing the game for mobile platforms.
  • Other Technical Roles: Feel free to send your resume with your key competencies, as we may have a place for you!
What’s in It for You?
  • Real-World Impact: Work on a project that prioritizes intentional connections and community building.
  • Pay Incentives: While we’re in our early stages, we offer compensation for your efforts.
  • Collaborative Culture: Join a team that values diverse perspectives, creativity, and fun!
  • Professional Growth: Receive glowing recommendations and references from our team of young professionals with over 2 years of industry experience, helping to showcase your contributions.
If you’re interested in becoming a part of Balloon Pop and contributing to an exciting new project, please reach out to me at ateh3391@gmail.com or my school email at ALIJT@email.sc.edu. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and working together to build something truly special!
