The Department of Data Science at the University of Mississippi Medical Center invites applications for two open-rank tenure-track (12-month) faculty positions to be filled immediately. Candidates must have a PhD or DSc degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field from an accredited institution. Faculty members are expected to teach one to two graduate courses per year, supervise graduate students (in-person Ph.D. and MS programs in biostatistics & data science), conduct independent and collaborative research, and contribute to the service missions of the department, school, institution, and profession.
Opportunities are available to collaborate with clinical, basic science, and translational science researchers from seven schools on campus, multiple centers, and two well-renowned cohort studies (the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study and Jackson Heart Study). Researchers from all areas of biostatistics and data science are encouraged to apply, with preference given to machine learning researchers for one position.
