The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science or a Visiting Professor of Computer Science, to begin August 1, 2022.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach specific courses in the computer science curriculum, including, but not limited to:  Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Database Theory/Implementation, and Intermediate Programming, along with other courses of interest such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Device Programming.

First and foremost, a successful candidate for this position must be passionate about undergraduate computer science education.  Excellence in teaching is an absolute requirement for the position; additional expectations of the candidate include professional development and scholarly activity, and service to the Department, the University, and the greater community.

A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline is required; ABD may be considered.  Previous online teaching experience will be viewed favorably.  We look forward to learning how the applicant's experience in, or future plans for, teaching, scholarship and service would support Mount Union’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access.

Our team has developed a patented, prototype floor vibration monitoring system that can detect human falls and collect gait information, localizing and estimating the force of each fall or footstep using only the structural vibrations caused by the action. The Physical Therapy Department in the USC Arnold School of Public Health seeks a graduate research assistant and an undergraduate research assistant to join the interdisciplinary team in research and development.

The Department of Computer Science at Wake Forest University invites applications for a one-year visiting position to begin in July 2022. We are seeking candidates with strong interest in engaged undergraduate teaching. If funding is available, and contingent on the outcome of a first year review, a one-year extension could be possible.

Completion of a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to or within 6 months of the date of hire is preferred, although candidates with an MS in Computer Science or a closely related field may be considered. The position title, Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, will be dependent on the candidate’s terminal degree status. The expected teaching load is three courses a semester, with the primary responsibility of the post being teaching of introductory and core courses. Opportunities may also exist to teach electives related to the candidate’s area of expertise and to access departmental funding for professional development.

My name is Bryce Fiedler. I'm the senior researcher at the South Carolina Policy Council, a nonpartisan research organization located here in Columbia. We also run an investigative news website called The Nerve.
