Georgia College & State University has an opening for a data science instructor and a computer science assistant professor. Both positions are housed in the Department of Information Systems & Computer Science in the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology. The department has an ABET accredited BS in CS and AACSB accredited programs for the BBA and Master of Management Information Systems. These position start August 1, 2023.
Data Science Instructor – The data science major just started in fall 2022 and has 15 majors already. This instructor will serve as the main contact for data science recruiting. The 10-month instructor will teach 4 sections in fall and 4 sections in spring semester and may make up to 9% per course for summer teaching. The position must be SACS qualified for math as one of these sections each fall and spring will be taught for the math department. Computer Science Assistant Professor – This is a tenure track assistant professor 10-month position. This position will teach 3 sections per semester and may make up to 9% per course for summer teaching. The assistant professor must meet the AACSB research requirements set by the college to be a scholarly academic as indicated in the faculty qualifications document (https://www.gcsu.edu/business/information-faculty). The computer science program has been ABET accredited since fall 2014. We have about 100 majors. This person will teach beginning Java as well as other CS/DS classes.
