All class participants are required to write an evaluation of each paper that they do not present. Let me emphasize: unless you are the presenter, you are to write an evaluation of each paper, not a review or a summary. If two short papers are being presented and you are only presenting one of them, then you must write an evaluation for the paper that you do not present. Written evaluations are due at the beginning of class before the presentations begin. One mundane motivation for written evaluations is to ensure that you are prepared to participate in class discussions for each presentation. Late evaluations will not be accepted. Don't be late for class! Likewise, don't miss class.
Your written evaluation of each paper should be comprehensive. (I will evaluate your evaluation based on how comprehensive it is.) Nonetheless, your evaluation should also be concise, no more than 1-2 typed pages in 12pt font. Use Word or your favorite word processing package. A key motivation for reading the papers is to develop a sufficient understanding of the field in order to be able to use visualization techniques competently in your career whether that is in academia or industry. Consequently, the following required evaluation criteria should be seen as a minimal set. Please address any additional criteria that you think are relevant or paper-specific.CSCE 567 Home Page | Syllabus | Presentations |
