Hexadecimal colors are a way of customizing exactly what color you get, if one of the 147 predefined values aren't enough. The color fidelity can be a little unpredictable, especially with many differnet browsers, but you just need to worry about understanding the basics of what's going on, i.e. how to change a value and what you're doing when you do.
