Dr. Gasteiger received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Munich in 1971 with a dissertation entitled "Studies on the Mechanism of Reactions of Cyclooctatetraene" and his Habilitation in 1979 with a dissertation entitled "Chemical Reactions and Reactivity---Models and Algorithms." He is the author or co-author of over 150 journal articles, and many more book chapters, proceedings articles, and books, including Neural Networks for Chemists: An Introduction (1993), and Neural Networks in Chemistry and Drug Design (second edition, 1999), both coauthored with J. Zupan.
