The Software Developer’s role is to provide programming support for new and existing information systems based on user specifications with guidance from other staff members. Consults with and provides users with assistance in determining program enhancements and maintenance required. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.


  • Performs program maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, documenting and training users.
  • Able to effectively manage time while working on multiple assignments with guidance as to relative priorities of assignments.
  • Confers with user personnel and department representatives in resolving questions of program/system intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
  • Learns company systems and how they are automated.
  • Provides on-call programming support.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

I am the CEO of VidiStar, LLC. C++ Developer for Short-Term Project

I have a partially completed project that needs completion. The project is to develop a DLL with functions exposed so that other applications can call them. The DLL would act as an interface to pass data from a test system (LabVIEW based) to a data archiver (tagged, unstructured, time-series database). The vendor of the data archiver/historian has provided a toolkit with documentation of available methods for exactly this purpose. This is a short-term project and would require a resource with a strong C++ skillset.

Software Development Externship Day at Blackbaud

The Software Development externship to Blackbaud (Charleston, SC) on Friday, September 26 is open to students in the following majors: Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Science, Software Engineering and IIT majors (all class levels).

An externship is a day-long group shadow experience where students visit an employer site for an overview of the organization and their employment opportunities. Common components of an externship include presentations by organizational leadership and human resources staff, practitioner panels (most often with alumni representation), shadowing opportunities and facility tours. Hello! I am a graduate student in the Arnold School of Public Health and I am looking to create a new interactive website. I am looking for one or two people to help me in creating the site. IT Help Needed

I'm looking for, most likely, a CIS student who is familiar, or has the ability to quickly orient themselves with Windows Small Business Sever 2011 Standard and Microsoft Exchange Server. We are experiencing intermittent latency issues at our office workstations that is greatly hindering our workflow. We need someone who can come in and analyze our system and attempt to locate and resolve the problem. We are willing to start at $80 per hour for an undergraduate student, but if their efficiency and results are up to a professional standard then we will gladly pay a higher hourly rate.
